Scope
This project includes the following improvents at Building 800
• Building 800 houses the district's Culinary Arts Program and other functions.
• Complete removal/demolition of an existing walk-in refrigerator and freezer
• New/replacement walk-in refrigerator / freezer unit
• New perimeter framed wall around walk-in.
• Miscellaneous electrical upgrades related to new walk-in
• Miscellaneous ceiling upgrades related to new walk-in
• New roof mounted refrigeration equipment
• Complete gutting of existing male and female restrooms
• Complete refurbishment of existing male/female restrooms with all new fixtures and finishes
• Replacement of existing HVAC system. Roof Mounted. Ductwork reconfiguration at interior

Project Manual Administrative Sections will be uploaded on Monday 11 May 2026
Project Documents are currently under review at DSA.
Approved documents with addenda will be issued upon DSA approval.
Prequalifications
Bidders must hold a valid Class B Contractor's license and be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations.
For General Contractors, prequalification applications must be submitted by 12 May 2026 at 11:59 PM.
For MEP subcontractors, prequalification applications must be submitted by 20 May 2026 at 4:00 PM.

Mandatory Pre-Proposal Bid Walk

Bid Submission
Written/ sealed bids must be submitted no later than 2:00 PM on 04 June 2026 at the District Address above. Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud.
Late bids will not be accepted. Each Bid must be accompanied by a bid bond equal to 10% of the bid amount.
The successful bidder will be selected based upon the total base bid.
Agreement will contain provisions permitting successful bidder to substitute securities for any monies withheld by the District to ensure performance under the agreement or permitting payment of rententions earned directly into an escrow account.
This project is a public work subject to prevailing wage requirements per Labor Code 1770.
Disabled Veteran's Business Enterprise
MetroED has a participation goal of at least 3% per year of the overall dollar amount expended each year by the school district for Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises. All contractors bidding on this project are required to make a good faith effort to achieve this 3% participation goal. Requirements for demonstrating that this good faith effort has been made are included in the Project Manual.
The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive any irregularities.
